Beat the Winter Blues with Megan Dooley

Warm Up Winter with Food, Music, and Community

Shake off the winter chill and join us for an evening of warmth, flavor, and fun at our Beat the Winter Blues Fundraiser on Saturday, February 28, beginning at 5:00 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Community Church. This all-ages event is the perfect way to gather with friends, meet new neighbors, and enjoy the best comforts of the season while supporting UUCC programs and ministries.

The evening kicks off with a hearty winter supper featuring vegetarian and meat chili, savory vegetarian mushroom paprikash, fresh bread, and delicious dessert. A cash bar will be available, with beer and wine for $5. Tickets are $20 per person, and kids attend free, making this a welcoming and affordable night out for everyone.

Adding to the fun is our lively Cornbread Bake-Off! Sample a variety of homemade cornbread entries and help crown the winner by dropping a donation into the can beside your favorites. (Be sure to bring a few dollars or some change with you so you can vote!) Every vote supports the fundraiser, so taste widely, vote generously, and cheer on your top pick. May the best cornbread win!

At 6:00 PM, settle in for live music from Megan Dooley, a beloved Kalamazoo singer-songwriter whose rich, soulful voice blends folk, blues, jazz, and Americana into an unforgettable performance. Her music brings warmth, energy, and the perfect soundtrack for a cozy winter evening.

Bring your appetite, bring your friends, and bring your community spirit. Together, we’ll turn a cold winter night into an evening full of connection, laughter, and joy.
