In the coming weeks and months, refugees – men, women, and children – from Afghanistan will be arriving in Kalamazoo County. Many of them will arrive with nothing except the clothes on their backs. Our help is needed to give them a fresh start.
The following is a list of priority needs:
° Any Household Basics*-sheets, towels, blankets, pillows, kitchen items for cooking, plates, glasses, kitchen towels, flatware, etc.
° Clothing*—especially fall and winter sweaters and coats.
° Shoes and Winter Boots*
° Personal Hygiene Products – shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, etc.
° Gift Cards – stores like Meijer, Target
° Places to Live— information about rentals or space in homes with families
*These can be new or gently used.
