In-person Services SUSPENDED

The UU Community Church Board of Trustees, Rev. Gy Ludvig-McCartney, and the UUCC Covid Task Force have been in communication about the expected surge of COVID-19 cases in the coming weeks due to the omicron variant.

Based on the discussion and a very high Covid positivity rate of over 14% in the greater Kalamazoo area, the Board has determined the most prudent course of action will be to shift to virtual services and programs beginning on January 2nd. All church activities will be held via Zoom (and live-streamed on Facebook when appropriate) until the risk level has fallen to “high” and the infection rate falls below 10% according to the Covid Act Now data (www.covidactnow.org).

In the meantime, we encourage everyone eligible to get the Covid-19 vaccine and recommended boosters and to follow health department guidance to prevent the spread of the virus. These include:

  •  Wear your face mask while indoors
  •  Wash your hands frequently
  •  Maintain a distance of six feet from others outside of your household
  • Stay home when sick and get tested for Covid-19
  • Isolate if you test positive for Covid-19
  • Self-quarantine if exposed to Covid-19

The building is closed but the church is open. We look forward to seeing you in 2022 at our virtual services and programs.

Stay safe and well.
