The newly named UUCC Quilting Group – Quilting for Community is ready to begin a new season of stitching, sharing, and serving others. This welcoming group gathers on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays from 10:30 AM – 2:30 PM, and all are invited to join—whether you’re an experienced quilter, a beginner with curiosity, or simply someone who enjoys community and creativity. Bring your lunch, and come when you can!

Our first project will focus on creating small, useful quilts for parents with young children. A pattern has already been chosen, and members will begin by cutting 2 ½” strips in preparation for the first sewing session on Tuesday, September 17. The completed quilts will be donated to the Kalamazoo YWCA and Enchanted Makeovers, organizations that support families and provide comfort to those in need.

We are grateful to have many supplies and fabrics on hand, but the group is in need of an ironing board. If you have one to spare that can live at the church, please let Marsha Laya know. Donations of 100% cotton fabric (or funds to purchase fabric) are also very welcome.

Come be part of this joyful circle of creativity and care—helping transform fabric scraps into quilts that bring warmth and love into our community.
