The Chubby Mermaids have been changing the face – and body, and age, and look – of women’s swimming in Kalamazoo since the group was created in 2021. Co-founded by Kalamazooan Tracey Lawie and Portage resident Liz Healy, the group is made up of female athletes, ranging in age from a teenager to a 60-year-old, united in an effort to promote inclusion and body positivity. Tracey will join us to talk about her journey, the mission, and the future of The Chubby Mermaids.
