Dr. Regena Nelson, Professor Emeritus, Department of Teaching, Learning, and Educational Studies at Western Michigan University, will join us to share her thoughts about building a culturally diverse teacher workforce, including reflections on her personal journey from student to educator, which shaped her passion for building a teacher workforce that reflects the diversity of today’s students. She will also discuss the challenges of recruiting and retaining diverse teachers, showcase innovative approaches such as the Urban Teacher Residency Program, and explore how diverse educators positively influence school culture and student achievement.
