Heaven and Hell

All in-person Services and Religious Education Classes and Events have been CANCELED until further notice.

Unitarian minister Thomas Starr King is credited with saying “Universalists believe that God is too good to damn them to hell; Unitarians believe that they are too good to be damned.” But UU indifference about the afterlife aside, one wonders where these ideas of Hell and Heaven came from in the first place? Inspired by Bart Erhman’s book Heaven and Hell: A History of the Afterlife Rev. Gy will help us explore the social, cultural, and historical worlds out of which the Western views of the afterlife arose.
