Open House Theatre Company (OHTC) and the Unitarian Universalist Community Church (UUCC) of Southwest Michigan are thrilled to offer an exciting one-week Kids Theatre Day Camp tailored for children aged 8-12.
Scheduled from August 10 -14 from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM daily, this camp guarantees a week packed with laughter, learning, and creativity. The camp will be held at UUCC at 10441 Shaver Road, Portage, MI
During the week-long day camp, kids will learn fundamental acting skills in a safe, supportive environment, participating in lots of fun activities, including games and crafts designed to spark their imaginations
One of the highlights of the camp is the collaborative production of a short play, in which the aspiring thespians will work together throughout the week to bring a story to life on stage. The week culminates on Friday evening as they perform the play for parents, guardians, and guests.
Here’s a snapshot of what children will experience:
– Learn basic theatre skills in a safe and supportive atmosphere
– Develop improvisation skills
– Create props and costumes
– Engage in fun learning activities: games, crafts, and more
– Produce and perform a play
Campers are required to bring their own brown bag lunch, while snacks will be provided.
The cost of the camp is only $50 per child, thanks to a generous grant from the Unitarian Universalist Community Church and donations from individual supporters.
