OHTC Theatre Camp for Kids

Open House Theatre Company (OHTC) and the Unitarian Universalist Community Church (UUCC) of Southwest Michigan are thrilled to offer an exciting one-week Kids Theatre Day Camp tailored for children aged 6-12.

Scheduled from July 29 to August 2, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM daily, this camp guarantees a week packed with laughter, learning, and creativity. The camp will be held at UUCC at 10441 Shaver Road, Portage, MI

During the week-long day camp, kids will learn fundamental acting skills within a safe and supportive environment, participating in lots of fun activities including games and crafts designed to spark their imaginations. Campers will also have the unique opportunity to interact with guest performers and theatre experts, gaining invaluable insights and inspiration.

One of the highlights of the camp is the collaborative production of a short play, where the aspiring thespians will collaborate throughout the week to bring a story to life on stage. The week culminates on Friday evening as they perform the play for parents, guardians, and guests.

Here’s a snapshot of what children will experience:

– Learn basic theatre skills in a safe and supportive atmosphere

– Develop improvisation skills

– Create props and costumes

– Engage in fun learning activities: games, crafts, and more

– Meet theatre performers and experts

– Produce and perform a play

Campers are required to bring their own brown bag lunch, while snacks will be provided.

The cost of the camp is only $30 per child, thanks to generous grants from the Michigan 60th District Service Office, the Unitarian Universalist Community Church, and donations from individual supporters.
